Gardens Week! (Tip)
Good Morning Everyone!
Today I want to share with you a TIP for getting started with exploring Gardens. If you have read my blog for a while you know I have posted many activities on Gardens, and I have a whole theme on the topic that is available. (See thecreativecampusonline.com "click on Invitations To Play").
You can explore Gardens in so many ways. you can learn about Plants and Trees. Where do they come from? What do they need to grow? What can they be used for?
Tip of the day: Start with hearty plants or seeds that don't require a lot of care. these will produce the best results and get kids the most excited, because they wont have to wait long for results. (Cucumbers, Peppers, Radishes, Beans).
You can also learn about food gardens. This is a great long term project that gets kids engaged in building responsibility. kids will enjoy planting and caring for a plant as it grows from seed to plant to product. This is a great way to explore how things grow with kids. It is also a great way to teach kids to turn raw food into a delicious dish. Cooking experiences opens up all kids of learning and skill building for kids. Math, Eye/Hand Coordination, Science and Teamwork are just of the skills you can build as you engage in cooking experiences with kids.
Perhaps you don't have the space to grow a full garden. That's ok.You can learn about and grow a herb garden. These take up less space and can be used in many different ways. You can explore all the wonderful uses for herbs with kids as they grow to maturity. I hope you enjoy this Tip for getting started on your exploration of Gardens. I hope you will share your ideas with us as the week goes along. You can join the conversation here! https://www.facebook.com/groups/Thecreativecampus/?ref=group_header . Have a wonderful day! Check back tomorrow for more fun ideas.
