"Open Ended Play" with Shapes

 Welcome Back Everyone! Using loose parts and shapes together, Now that sounds like endless fun to me. You can learn so many things with this concept. Math, Make Believe, Art. You can use shapes to pretend you are a chef and making food. You can use shapes to make all sorts of fun art. you can even use shapes to learn math. sorting out shapes by size or color. Adding Shapes to create a picture or to complete a pattern. the learning experiences are endless.  you can even go on a "shape Hunt". hide shapes in your yard or any room you use for learning. then give each child a shape they are responsible for finding. then give them a verbal clue where they might find their shape EX: I am something sweet you like to eat, but I am kept on a shelf. (answer: I am an ice cream cone in the pantry).

Invitationss To Play With Open Ended Loose Parts Robots

Robots are such a fun subject. they engage everything from Small motor to Creativity and can even  gross motor. I have used a lot of fun activities over the years on this theme. One of my favorites is my "Build A Robot" game. you get a bunch of parts (eyes ears nose mouth) so on and so on. then you put them in a pile and each player picks a card and adds that part to their robot.   SUPER FUN. I also like to let the kids create their own robots!  they really enjoy this. Boxes, Art Materials and a lot of creativity.  Its so much fun the things they come up with.  “Robots” Loose parts and invitations to play! This theme is one that can be used in endless ways. Practicing Colors With Ice Cream

Hi Everyone!   I hope you are all having a wonderful week! I had a wonderful Spring Break and I hope you did as well! Today I wanted to share a fun game with you, that can be turned into an art project as well. I call this "The Ice Cream Game". I usually use this with a whole group, but it would be fun One On One as well. I cut scoops of ice cream from different colored paper. I cut cherries, sprinkles , Whipped Cream, Chocolate topping, Butter Scotch Topping and so on. I put these all in the middle of the circle. I cut and give out bowls as well. Each player gets a turn ( you can use a dice for older children). I make cards with pictures of either "Toppings" or "ice cream" and each player picks one card when its their turn. The group sings the persons name and says which one will you choose? if the card has ice cream they get to pick one scoop. if it has a topping they have to pass their turn until they get ice cream first.
