(Loose Parts) Dinosaurs Invitations To Play and Learn This is a wonderful theme that stretches across many learning areas. This theme lends itself very well to the “Loose Parts” concept. you can create lots of fun Art, Science and even math. All using the “Small Parts” concept. Dinosaurs and volcanos is  a topic my friends have enjoyed very much over the years. I like to give them Q tips (dinosaur bones) and let them create their own dinosaurs.  Fossils is another fun activity that I like to provide. roll out a small piece of play dough for each person. (let the child choose a object they would like to create a fossil with. ( a sturdy plant piece, a stick  Rocks). let them press it into the play dough and let dry (or bake).  Is there something you might be struggling with? or feeling frustration around while you're creating and engaging at home?  leave me a message and I would love to help in any way I can. 1) Din...

5 Activities For Science Skills and Learning

Hi Everyone!  I just wanted to share with you a part of a new blog series I started, called 5 Activities. Each post will give 5 activities to use for a specific topic. I hope you enjoy these posts and I look forward to your comments! Science: Dino Bone Dig   I have use this one over the years. I have enjoyed doing this activity myself. you can find different types of bones or fossils and burry them in your sand table. give each child brushes or scoops to dig out each bone and build a creature. You can use the fossils (objects work too) and press them into playdough to make your own fossils. this is a fun hands on science activity that allows the children to learn about why some things fossilize and some don't. Grow Flowers or Plants. Provide seeds or already started plants. encourage the children to care for their plants daily. As the plants grow and produce food the children will enjoy the rewards of their work. Cook Simple Meals Or Make Playdough: this is fun ...

Hello Everyone! Today I want to share some fun dinosaur activities with you. I recently did this theme with a group of boys and they loved it! One of the activities that we did was Dino Skeletons! this was very simple and they were really into it. I gave them Popsicle sticks and bendy straws, and I let them glue them on a piece of paper. they then added eyes and to finish it all off they painted over it to give the Dino's skin! they came out really neat looking! this was totally their own creation from start to finish which made it fun to watch! Then I gave me Dino's in goop! I couldn't believe what a big hit this nasty concoction was!  shaving cream and liquid glue. Let it sit before playing and it becomes slime that wont stick to your fingers!! (I had more fun with it after the kids left hehe). they loved stomping in it and making tracks. Lastly we made volcano's. I think this one looks really cool even though it was very simply done.  I let the children fre...
