Open Ended Loose Parts! Under The Sea I don't know about you, but I love pretty much everything to do with water. So naturally this is a theme that I get really into and enjoy as much as the kids do. I have had a lot of fun with this theme over the years. there are a lot of movement opportunities as well as hands on experiences with this one. I have listed some of my favorite activities below. 1) Hand Print Fish (string on line with stick) 2)Fish sponges in Shaving Cream Sensory 3) Move Like A (Crab, Whale, Fish) Questions For Further Learning and Engaging: What Kinds of animals live in the ocean? are animals the only living things in the ocean? what are the biggest and smallest things that live in the ocean? You can create a lot of fun Dramatic Play situations. You can defiantly do a lot of science and sensory. I love to put sand out and give the kids water, and all sorts of tools. The creative ideas the kids come up with are endless...

Scrap Art..... Fun For All Ages!

Image
Welcome Back!  I have something for you that I think your really going to enjoy! I know I am very excited to use it in class with my friends!  I call it "Scrap Art". As you see it IS exactly what it sounds like! What I love about this is that the possibilities are ENDLESS. you can create anything with it that your mind can think up. The best thing is, it can be stretched or simplified for ANY age! you can make larger more abstract objects with older children using smaller objects. for younger children (as we did above) you can provide pre cut "Parts" to the art and allow then to decorate with the provided art supplies. I love to use confetti, Tissue Paper, Dry Pasta, Straws. I could go on and on! In this version, we allowed the older children to create whatever they wanted. We provided them with contact paper, Wiggle Eyes and Recycled Art Work. Then the children cut them into whatever shapes they wanted. This is a fantastic art activity that works on all s...

Are You a Nanny, Stay At Home Mom or Caregiver Looking For Creative Ideas and Fun Network To Share With?

Hello Everyone! I wanted to send you a special invite to a group I started. I enjoy sharing my favorite activities that I have done over the years, so I decided that start posting my ideas online in the form of this blog. This is a fun way to share my ideas with others, however I also like to hear about the activities that others who work with children do as well. Networking and sharing in person is at times complicated, so I have started a Facebook group for this very purpose that I would love to invite you to. "The Creative Campus Activity Group" is where you can find us. I share Activities, Blog posts, Newsletters, Art Activities, Games and invites to my events.  I would love for you to come and share with us as well! I love to meet new people and this is another fun way to make that happen!  I hope to see you there soon! Theresa @ Thecreativecampus.weebly.com

Then we tried to add "Sand" you can use actual sand or Yellow Salt but ask you see here, the Salt Didn't Stick Well. Then I encouraged the Children to tear tissue paper and create Seaweed.                                   Finally, For our last step I had my friends use their hand prints to create fish and finish their project! They had as much fun with this as I did watching them. You can make this as details or Simple as you or your friends wish.  I hope you enjoy!!

Weather Weather Everywhere!!

Welcome Back Everyone! I hope you are having lots of fun and learning new things every day! I get the most enjoyment out of starting an activity with my little friends and watching them turn it into an activity of their very own. That is exactly what happened today. I started out with pre drawn art starters for my friends (cloud shapes) and my friends where very excited to see the Paint, Tissue Paper, Glue and other supplies I had out for them.   I was amazed to watch some of them choose the blank paper and start to make their own cloud art.   Some left their art as a abstract piece of paper and others asked me to cut the edges into a cloud shape After their art was done! This is what some of them ended up looking like, I hope you love it as much as I did and make some of your very own! This activity was a great example of how to take one idea and stretch it across all Ages, Skill Levels and Creative Expressions. I love doing this kind of activity and watching the chi...

String Art and So Much More

Image
Hi Everyone! I have some very exciting things I want to share with you. I have been having a lot of fun with my friends recently and our most recent Art Experience took on a life of its own. I started out introducing a string art activity, and my friends decided that they liked their own methods better (that happens sometimes). Take a look at what my friends came up with. I hope it Inspires you to engage your own creativity.       Originally the strings were taped to the trays and the paint was ON the strings so that no brushes were used.  My friends were supposed to flick the strings to make their pictures. They didn't like the ideas of using the strings so they started painting around the strings and as they came off the trays, they started to mix the strings in the paint. This is an activity that can be used for many different themes. the children had a lot of fun with this as well.

Happy St Patrick Day Everyone! I wanted to share the fun day we had today with you all! I Made Shamrock Collages with my friends. This was a lot of fun to watch! They came out so cool and they were Totally Child Created.    My favorite thing of the day was the "Surprise" I brought for my friends.  That's right!!! JELLO. They Loved it. This was such a wonderful activity I plan on using it again. I have a NEW favorite Sensory activity. This was a great way to experiment with Texture and Temperature and Scent. I hope you have had as much fun today as we did!   Till Next Time!   Theresa ( Don't forget you can go over to my FB Page and get lots more Free Ideas INCLUDING MY FREE GIVEAWAY THIS MONTH! https://www.facebook.com/thecreativecampuspreschool

Catterpillars, Flowers , Butterflies OH MY!

Image
Spring is a great time to get out and explore the great out doors. New flowers and popping up, animals are coming out and things are growing and changing all around us. This makes great opportunities for learning about  nature. A great way to pull nature into your art is by making Textured Caterpillar's, Flowers and Butterflies. This is a lot easier then it sounds, I like to give my friends shapes that look like Caterpillar's (circles) this might mean giving them a bowl with some paint and dipping the bowl into the paint to stamp circles. Then the fun begins. I like to give my friends cut up straws of different colors, tissue paper, confetti if I have it. any kind of art pieces that will be bumpy or textured. Encourage them to fill in the circles they stamped with the pieces and before they know it, they will have a colorful textured Caterpillar's, Flower or butterfly. Now if your going to do a flower, I like to use glue and let my friends either dip the pieces in the glue ...

Spring Into Action With Art!

Hello Everyone! It has been a crazy day around here! Snow, then sleet, Then Ice and now Thunder Storms as a Sit here Writing this! I am not going to be with my little friends today, but I wanted to share a fun idea with you anyway. This one is a "clean" art idea that is totally process. I want you to give your children contact paper if you have it. If not regular paper will work but it will just be normal art. give them squares of colored tissue paper and tell them they are going to make a flower, that if its on tissue paper will double as a sun catcher! they will probably need a little help with the first few pieces, I suggest you show them how to play the pieces flat so they stick. Then just let the kids have a good time sticking pieces on their contact paper till their done. now you can either give them a piece of green construction paper for a stem or you can let them make their own with the tissue as well! up to you. I really like this one and I am going to do this wit...

A New Year Of Fun Ideas

Image
Hello Friends, Ms. Theresa here again! how has everyone been doing?  I hope you are having so much fun so far this year. This is my favorite time of the year. There are so many fun things to explore in the fall time, Leaves changing colors and falling from the trees, Pumpkins, in my house we grow our own gourds as well. we have been having so much fun in my class. We have learned all about our new friends and made paper dolls to look like each other. Then we drew windows and door on  our homes that we live in and painted them. We talked about how everyone's home is different.  These were very simple but fun activites for my friends. They loved to dip the cars in paint and roll them all around. I hope you enjoyed this activity and I encourage you to try it at home!   Don't forget check back often as I add new activities on a regular basis. I look forward to hearing from all of you, to learn of the fun things you are doing and learning a...
