Open Ended "Loose Parts" With Turkeys

Image
Gobble Gobble Friends!  I have something fun for you. I love to do turkey activities. Several Years ago I created a Turkey game that I like to use In my math center. I have feathers of different colors, and turkeys with numbers on them. Sometime I let the kids engage with the activity alone, and other times we play a group game with it. I also like to put feathers out in the science area with different investigating tools. Their are so many fun things you can do with turkeys/ feathers. you can even g et a container and play a what is it game. or use the items to create a story directed by the children. (sometimes its fun to get them to act it out as they tell it).  I hope you enjoyed these activities, and If there something you might be struggling with? or feeling frustration around while you're creating and engaging at home?  leave me a message and I would love to help in anyway I can.

Open Ended "Loose Parts" Play With Spiders

Image
Spiders! AHHHH.... I don't know about you, but I do not like them! . However kids seem to enjoy them.  I have learned some fun ways to give kids fun learning experiences without grossing myself out. I use the book The Very Busy Spider. I provide pieces of string that are all different sizes, plastic spiders, Cotton balls to spread into webs, and a back drop. ( a barn or a doll house)... I then let the kids engage with the materials how they wish. Some dump the materials into the barn and create play that way. others build a spider web on the table separate from the Barn or House. My objective is to let the kids learn and play as they wish. a fun way to use spiders and webs in art, is to give the kids white tissue paper strips and let them paste the strips onto black or blue paper and then dip their hand in brown paint to place a spider in their web. Turns out SUPER Cute! I hope you enjoyed these activities and if  there something you might be struggling with? or feeling frust

Open Ended "Loose Parts" Play With Pumpkins

Image
Who Doesn't love pumpkins. I like to do a lot of fun activities with this topic. pumpkin seed math is a lot of fun. you can color the seeds different colors and let everyone take turns taking a scoop from the big pot. then they have to count and sort the seeds by color. once everyone has taken scoops and the seeds are gone. count each color and see who has the most of each. If you are looking for a fun art activity. make a pumpkin patch. stuff brown bags full of news paper till fat. then paint them orange with a green stem. add a face to make them a jack O lantern. ( you can use the pumpkins as a gross motor game as well. Before painting the faces on, display the colored pumpkins in a *field* and let ever person walk about and Pick One.  then they can add their own face to the one they choose.  Makes for a fun group project . For More Pumpkin Themed activities, Check out the "Invitations To Play" Program: https://yescourse.com/store/invitations-to-play-with-open-en

"Invitations To Play with Open Ended Loose Parts" (Letters, Chica Chica, Alphabet soup )

Image
Hello Everyone!   As you know I am working on a theme this year.  I enjoy providing my friends with "Loose Parts" For play and letting them create their own play with  the parts. I do this by providing things that are connected to the theme we are talking about. I don't ever give instructions on how to use the items. I let the children explore the items and engage together. For Instance today I am writing to you about " "Letter" and a few themes that I enjoy using to Teach "Letters". For Alphabet soup, I would set you small letters, Pictures of random items, and Cooking utensils. By Doing this, you encourage many different forms of learning. Language, Math, Science.  I hope you enjoyed these activities, and If there something you might be struggling with? or feeling frustration around while you're creating Letters- Chica Chica LooseParts Advice: Using Games and Sensory activities is a great hands on way to encourage children to e

Elementry School Should Be More Like Preschool! ( Invitations To Play With Open Ended Loose Parts)

Hello Friends!   My name is Theresa and I own a company called The Creative Campus. I am known as a "Creativity Producer and Professional Mess Maker" for homeschooling parents and caregivers. I work with Moms and nannies of children 2 years old and older.  “I Teach Growth Through Play”  The Creative Campus works with our clients to set goals for learning and Building New Skills . These goals encourage their children to learn and grow using play! Once we work together to set goals, I teach them how to create activities at home based on their child's skills and Interests to reach the goals they set. I wanted to talk to you about a concept that I have created and started working with this year. This concept is one that is perfect for kids from Preschool all the way through Elementary School. Play based Learning!  I believe that our kids are expected to sit for FAR to long during the course of their school day! because of this, I came up with a way to ge

Invitationss To Play With Open Ended Loose Parts Robots

Image
Robots are such a fun subject. they engage everything from Small motor to Creativity and can even  gross motor. I have used a lot of fun activities over the years on this theme. One of my favorites is my "Build A Robot" game. you get a bunch of parts (eyes ears nose mouth) so on and so on. then you put them in a pile and each player picks a card and adds that part to their robot.   SUPER FUN. I also like to let the kids create their own robots!  they really enjoy this. Boxes, Art Materials and a lot of creativity.  Its so much fun the things they come up with.  “Robots” Loose parts and invitations to play! This theme is one that can be used in endless ways. You can use this theme to teach Color Recognition, Shapes, Counting, Color Mixing. I could go on and on. This theme encourages children to be creative and engage in learning. Is there something you might be struggling with? or feeling frustration around while you're creating and engaging at home?  leave me

Open Ended "Loose Parts" Play With Super Heros

Image
Hey Friends! Who doesn't love super heroes?  I think we all have at some point in our lives. Super Heroes of course have Super Powers, These can be very useful in the classroom. especially when you want to engage your kids in physical activity. Stack up blocks and ask they what super power they want to use to try to knock them over( use old boxes so they fall over with your child's strength). a great Small Motor or Art activity that I love to do, is Making a Super Hero. give each child a person cut out... and let them use art pieces to create their own super hero. ( you can also give them a blank sheet of paper and let them create their super hero from scratch). I hope you enjoyed these activities and if  there something you might be struggling with? or feeling frustration around while you're creating and engaging at home?  leave me a message and I would love to create a solution based on your specific need. If your looking for more Learning and Skill Growth Fun, Take a

Kids Will Never Learn Sitting Still! (Simon Says Construction)

Image
Every activity children engage in should be chosen by them. It Should be connected to their skills, Interests, or Needs . when children engage in these kinds of activities, they naturally grow and learn as they are exposed to new things. When they are interested in engaging with or learning more about a topic then they will naturally engage. One of my new favorites that I will use over and over again, is "Simon Says" Construction. This is a game that we played today with my " Play and Learn Group". I have created programs for learning and building news skills using play at home! These are yours to keep as your learn and grow using play! If you have enjoyed my "Simon Say Construction". Then you will enjoy the programs I have to share!  Come Join The Creative Campus: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Thecreativecampus/ where you will find more details about THIS and other fun activities! Did you know that play is a great way to Practice and Grow Skills?

Image
Here is how you can do it at home! Play is the natural way that children learn and gain new skills. they explore their environment and use trial and error to figure out how things work. They also watch those around them to get inspiration for exploration. I love to get kids engaged in every day activities in a way that they feel they are just playing. children love to be helpful and do Grown Up Things. Why not make them fun and teach them to be independent at the same time! Encourage them to Put their own clothes away, or Clean their toys up. you can do this by using games that they have to chose items to put away like Color, Letter They Start With, Shape or Even Size. Here are some fun ways to do that! 1) Button, Fold, Sort Cloths 2) Pour Dirt or Dig Holes 3) Stir, Roll, Measure Ingredients to Cook  If you are looking for Fun and Engaging Activities put together for you, so all you  have to do is play and learn!  I have just the thing. Open Ended "Loose parts" Play With Fireworks

Image
Everyone loves fireworks (even those of us who don't like the noise). I have some noise less ways for you and your friends to enjoy them together.  Make your own "fireworks" show. Fill a shallow container with shaving cream assist kids in dripping water colors into the shaving cream. Use Combs or sticks to draw in the shaving cream (slightly mixing the colors). Gently lay  a paper on the top and peel back. wipe off the excess. Another activity I  like to do is to give each child a coffee filter and glue it to a colored square sheet of paper (as a background). Then you can be creative use tissue paper and glue to the filter. Or you can paint the filter. These are also very pretty. Last but defiantly not least fun. fill water balloons with paint. Let the kids either throw them at a wall that is covered in paper Or if you have a deck or porch, lay the paper on the ground and let the kids throw the balloons at the paper. (don't use a lot of water mostly paint). Jus

Open Ended "LooseParts" with Stars and Planets

Image
Stars and Planets (Loose Parts)   Oh my Stars, are we going to have some fun!  do you have friends who like to learn everything their is to know about stars and plants? I have some fun activities to get them engaged. Let them create their own planet. give them different size circles, and let them design their planet . you can also get them to engage their language skills and creativity. talk to them about their planet and what its like. Dictate what they say . IF some of your friends are more interested in stars over planets, give them some star shapes and night sky colored paper and encourage them to create a starry night sky. These are just a few of my favorite activities for this topic, and I hope you have as much fun with them as I have. I love this theme, because it offers endless open ended fun and learning. Everyone can find something to enjoy with this theme. It doesn't matter if a child is more drawn to Science, Art  or Hands on construction. There are lear
